Robin Frijns ensured that Audi continued to top the timesheets in the third day of the official pre-season DTM tests at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz, ahead of stablemates René Rast and Mike Rockenfeller.
Rast was three tenths behind, with Rockenfeller just over half a second adrift, as the Ingolstadt marque locked out the top three positions for the third day in a row.
BMW’s Joel Eriksson was the only other driver to be within a second of the pace, but the Swede also lapped the east German circuit more than any other driver during the course of the day.
Brazilian Pietro Fittipaldi was fifth on his second day behind the wheel of WRT’s Audi RS5, ahead of BMW’s South African Sheldon van der Linde in sixth.
Getting his first laps in during the test was Marco Wittmann, who was seventh, ahead of R-Motorsport Aston Martin duo Jake Dennis and Paul di Resta in eighth and ninth respectively.
Audi’s Jamie Green completed the top ten, 1.4 seconds off the pace of his colleagues. 15 drivers in total lapped the circuit on Wednesday. Testing continues on Thursday.
