The future of the ADAC TCR Germany series, the most successful national TCR championship, has been secured for a further five years through a deal between promoter Franz Engstler and ADAC.
The German series began in 2016 and has gone from strength to strength, consistently boasting the largest TCR grids in the world, which at one stage in 2017 were over 40 cars.
As well as the extended deal, TCR Germany will also use Yokohama tyres from 2019 onwards, bringing it into line with many other major TCR series around the world. The series previously used Hankook rubber.
“We are delighted that the ADAC TCR Germany has firmly established itself in the German motorsport scene,” said ADAC Sports President Hermann Tomczyk. “The series is already in its fourth season and is of interest to young drivers as well as more experienced touring car pilots.
“With the early extension of our partnership with TCR Germany GmbH, we secure the future of the series and provide our participants with long-term planning security.”
Promoter Franz Engstler is looking forward to the coming year and seeing the series continue on its current trajectory until at least 2023.
“We are proud of the good development that the series has made in recent years and look forward to continuing the cooperation with the ADAC until at least 2023,” said Engstler.
“Given the diversity of manufacturers and drivers, we can all look forward to another exciting year Season.”
The grid is once again set to feature brand diversity in 2019, with at least six brands represented. Car models from Audi, CUPRA, Honda, Hyundai, Opel and Volkswagen will compete for the title.
