Yvan Muller will join Lynk & Co Cyan Racing for the 2019 FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) after being confirmed as the team’s second driver alongside Thed Björk on Sunday (18 November).
Fresh from finishing as the runner-up in this year’s World Touring Car Cup, Muller has now been confirmed at the Swedish team for their first assault on the title with the Lynk & Co 03 TCR race car.
“I have been very happy working with Cyan Racing and to continue our journey in this new programme with Lynk & Co is ideal,” said Muller. “We will continue to push hard for the World title in 2019.”
The deal is a natural move for Muller, who rans his own team in this year’s WTCR with support from Cyan Racing – resulting in Muller’s team running with the colour code of Cyan (100-0-0-0) on the side of the Hyundai i30 N TCR cars.
Together with Björk, the team were successful in clinching the Teams’ Championship, and will use the experience gained to further develop the new Lynk & Co car.
“Yvan is a key part in our assault on the 2019 FIA WTCR and our cooperation with him and his team Yvan Muller Racing during 2018 has been invaluable,” said Cyan Racing CEO Christian Dahl.
“The programme has enabled us to make the necessary preparations in order to hit the ground running next year.
“To claim the teams’ title in 2018 fills us all with confidence for the challenges to come.”
Cyan Racing will reveal the identity of their third driver in due course, with Muller’s nephew Yann Ehrlacher strongly linked with the driver.
