Dan Lloyd ‘not worried’ about starting Croft races at the back

Dan Lloyd says he is ‘not worried’ about starting both TCR UK races from the back of the grid, with the WestCoast Racing driver set to start from eighth and seventh place respectively for Sunday’s races.

Lloyd qualified with the fourth fastest time on Saturday but receives a five-place grid penalty for contact with Stewart Lines last time out at Oulton Park.

The championship leader’s next fastest lap was also the second-best of everyone’s second quickest laps, with the reversed times forming the basis of the race two grid, leaving Lloyd in seventh for the second race on Sunday.

But with the grid size at Croft being the smallest of the season, Lloyd admits he is not bothered about starting at the back for the races, having only lost two points to title rival Ollie Taylor on Saturday.

“It was a tough session with changing conditions and our timing was a bit out,” said Lloyd to TouringCars.Net. “It wasn’t too bad as we didn’t drop too many points to Ollie, which is the main thing.

“I’m quite confident that we’ve got good pace for tomorrow. It wasn’t the best, but I’m not too worried.

“It’s been a bit of an odd day with the sessions. We don’t know what people have done with tyres, especially with the wet session.

“I’ve been quickest in every session apart from qualifying, but I don’t know what other people are doing, so we don’t know our true pace for tomorrow.

“But I have had reasonable pace throughout the day, so I think it could be an interesting day.

“I’m mainly thinking about the points in qualifying, where I dropped two points to Ollie. Tomorrow is just about getting as many points as possible, and if I finish ahead of Ollie then it’s a bonus.”
