WestCoast Racing’s Dan Lloyd continued to set the pace in the TCR UK series at Croft, going fastest in a rain-soaked free practice session by almost two seconds from title rival Ollie Taylor.
Lloyd posted the best lap of the session on his second flying lap, putting in a time which was over six seconds slower than he had been in the first warm-up session of the day which was on a dry track.
The rain became slightly heavier during the course of the session, preventing drivers from being able to push to the limit, with Taylor ending up with his Honda in second, having never previously raced on the Croft circuit.
Maximum Motorsport’s Stewart Lines put in his best showing of the day to end the session in third, a mere 0.001 seconds ahead of the Honda of WestCoast Racing’s Andreas Bäckman in fourth.
Jessica Bäckman was fifth, a further six tenths behind her brother in the second of WestCoast Racing’s Volkswagens, ahead of the Hyundai of Lewis Kent in sixth.
Having suffered from gear shift problems throughout the morning’s warm-up sessions, Verizon Connect Racing’s Finlay Crocker finally got on top of the issues in practice and joined the session late-on, putting in five laps in the increasing rain to be the slowest of the drivers who posted a time.
DW Racing’s Darelle Wilson did not take to the circuit due to suffering from splitter damage in the first session of the day, with the team working to repair the component at the front of his Vauxhall Astra ahead of qualifying.
Qualifying is scheduled to take place at 16:30 BST.
