Dan Lloyd continued to set the pace in morning warm-up for the TCR UK series at Croft, with WestCoast Racing’s Andreas Bäckman closing the gap to the points leader in second to just over two tenths.
Although Lloyd’s time was three tenths slower than he had been earlier on in the first session of the day, the rest of the field closed up on the Volkswagen driver, with second-placed Andreas Bäckman 0.234 seconds behind in his WestCoast Racing entered Honda.
Bäckman is using the Sean Walkinshaw Racing-owned Civic this weekend after the Swedish team made a late call to enter three cars in the UK at Croft on a weekend which also clashes with the STCC in Norway.
As such, Bäckman is continuing to acquaint himself with the older-spec Civic, and he went over a second faster than he had done in the day’s first session.
Jessica Bäckman was just behind her brother in third, albeit a further five tenths back in the team’s other Volkswagen, making it a WestCoast 1-2-3 at the top of the times.
Stewart Lines was fourth in his CUPRA, over two seconds off the pace, ahead of Lewis Kent’s Hyundai in fifth.
Title contender Ollie Taylor was sixth after completing just six laps in his 2018-spec Honda, ahead of Finlay Crocker’s Verizon Connect Racing Honda in seventh. The Scot had earlier encountered gear selection difficulties in the first session of the day, and he completed just four laps in second warm-up as the team attempted to resolve the issue.
DW Racing’s Darelle Wilson propped up the times in eighth, almost six seconds adrift of the pace.
Free practice 1 takes place at 13:50 BST followed by qualifying at 16:30 BST.
