WestCoast Racing’s Dan Lloyd led the times in an extended 50-minute warm-up session for the TCR UK series at Croft, putting in a time which was seven tenths clear of Pyro Motorsport title rival Ollie Taylor.
Lloyd put in a fast lap late in the session on his final flying run to depose the Honda of Taylor, who had sat at the top of the timesheets for 20 minutes prior to that with his best effort, which was ultimately the only other time to be within a second of Lloyd.
The nature of the warm-up sessions allows drivers to use tyres outside their official race weekend designation, meaning many will have taken to the circuit on old rubber.
WestCoast Racing’s Jessica Bäckman was third fastest, just over a second off the pace. She was able to edge-out her brother Andreas, who put in the fourth best time in his Honda, which he is still getting accustomed to after making a last-minute switch from Volkswagen machinery for the weekend.
Lewis Kent’s Hyundai i30 N was fifth fastest, almost three seconds off the pace, ahead of Stewart Lines’ CUPRA, Darrelle Wilson’s Vauxhall and Finlay Crocker’s Honda, the latter completing just two laps.
Ahead of the session the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR of Derek Palmer was withdrawn from the event due to his car, which had been in Italy for repairs at Romeo Ferraris, not returning on time to make it to the event.
The second warm-up session takes place at 11:30 BST.
