Essex and Kent Motorsport has confirmed they plan to run a second Hyundai i30 N TCR car at the Castle Combe round of the TCR UK Series, with a yet-to-be-announced driver partnering Lewis Kent.
Kent, 18, has contested all six races of the inaugural TCR UK season in an i30, claiming a best result of third in the first race of the most recent round held at Brands Hatch last month.
Now the team will add a second Hyundai to its driver line-up, confirming the move via social media on Monday, with a full announcement set to follow on Wednesday.
The former Ford Fiesta racer has been the only driver to race a Hyundai in the UK in 2018, although the car has proven to be dominant in Europe, where the i30 has claimed seven wins out of the 15 races to-date in the FIA World Touring Car Cup.
The next TCR UK race weekend takes place on July 14 – 15 at Castle Combe in Wiltshire.
UPDATE: Shortly after revealing a second entry, Lewis Kent sent out an update on social media that the team will not be present with two cars at Castle Combe after all, representing a sudden U-turn on their earlier announcement.
Unfortunately I have to inform everyone that there will only be one Hyundai at castle Combe the team are still working hard to sort it out and get two cars there but unlikely, hopefully we will have two cars for the rest of the season though
