Final practice for the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters weekend at the Hungaroring saw Switzerland’s Nico Müller top the time sheets, leading an Audi Sport top three after the conclusion of the 30-minute session, whilst BMW Motorsport would find none of their cars reaching the top ten.
The Team Abt Sportsline driver set the best time of a 1:37.433, ahead of defending champion René Rast and Britain’s Jamie Green, with all three drivers separated by 0.423 seconds.
Daniel Juncdella was the best of the Mercedes contingent, with the Spaniard 0.569 seconds off the pace set by Müller, ahead of stablemates Paul Di Resta and Lucas Auer, who secured a welcome 1-2 for the Stuttgart marque.
Audi’s Loïc Duval again showed good pace by placing seventh on the timesheets, in front of Pascal Wehrlein, Mike Rockenfeller and Edoardo Mortara, who completed the top ten.
Going into today, new points leader Gary Paffett was just 0.004 seconds off the pace of Mortara in 11th place, whilst Robin Frijns was the best of the rookies behind the 2005 champion.
Title protagonist Timo Glock was the best of the BMW drivers, who would occupy the last six places in respect of lap times. Glock was 13th fastest, 0.899 seconds off Müller, ahead of Bruno Spengler, Augusto Farfus, Joel Eriksson, Philipp Eng Marco Wittmann.
Qualifying for the sixth race of the 2018 DTM season gets underway at 1120 local time (BST + 1 hour), lasting for 20 minutes.
