Hyundai racer Dušan Borković pipped Audi driver Jaap van Lagen by less than a tenth of a second to top the times in second practice for the TCR Europe Series at Zandvoort.
The times had been topped by the Audi of Jaap van Lagen, shod with fresh rubber, for much of the session, with the Leopard Lukoil driver at one point being eight tenths clear of second place.
But towards the end of the session Borković, who had been fifth quickest, put in a quick lap to go to the top, although his time was still two tenths slower than van Lagen’s best of the day set earlier in first practice.
Attila Tassi was third fastest, improving on his classification of 13th in first practice, with the KCMG Honda driver being 0.354 seconds from the pace.
Comtoyou Racing’s Maxime Potty had been one of the early pace-setters in the session and the Volkswagen racer ended up in fourth, ahead of PCR Sport’s Mikel Azcona in fifth, who continued to demonstrate that he has front-running pace in his CUPRA.
The morning’s leading Hyundai racer Kris Richard was sixth in his Target Competition i30 N, ahead of Stian Paulsen in seventh and the third Target Hyundai of Reece Barr in eighth, with the latter being the last driver within a second of the pace.
KCMG’s Josh Files and M1RA’s Francisco Mora completed the top ten, whilst Mora’s team-mate Dániel Nagy was 11th, a mere 0.007 seconds slower.
Qualifying for TCR Europe takes place at 15:45 CEST (14:45 BST).
