Hungarian racer Dániel Nagy will race with M1RA in the 2018 TCR Europe Series after inking a deal to race one of the team’s new Hyundai i30 N TCR cars in the seven-event series.
Nagy has previously raced in the World Touring Car Championship for the past two seasons, completing a part-season in 2016 before tackling the full season in 2017, where he secured a best finish of tenth at Monza.
Nagy also raced in the Hungarian round of the TCR International Series in 2017, where the 19-year-old scored a best result of 15th in race one at the wheel of a Zengő Motorsport SEAT.
The Hungarian youngster is looking forward to the chance to fight for wins in 2018, having struggled with the underperforming Zengő independent Honda Civic in the WTCC.
“I’m willing to experience the taste of victories again,” said Nagy. “TCR Europe is the perfect series and M1RA is the perfect team to do so. I am very positive ahead of the forthcoming season.”
M1RA Team Principal Dávid Bári hopes to see Nagy help the team to defend its honour in the Team’s classification, after M1Ra lifted the TCR International Series team’s trophy in 2017.
“We established M1RA last year with the aim of fighting for wins at international level and this purpose has not changed,” said Bári. “After becoming the Teams’ Champions in the TCR International Series in 2017, we would like to reach a similar success in TCR Europe.
“I am so happy to welcome Dániel in our team, because we know he is a very talented and young driver. I believe we have the experience to help him with improving as a driver.”
