Target Competition have confirmed that they will switch from campaigning in ADAC TCR Germany to running three Hyundai i30 N TCR cars in the expanded TCR Europe series in 2018.
The Italian-based team have competed in TCR Germany for the past two seasons, scooping both drivers’ titles to-date with Josh Files at the wheel of a Honda Civic TCR.
Now the team have confirmed a change of series for 2018, moving to the seven-race TCR Europe series with newly-built Hyundai machinery.
British racer Reece Barr had already been announced as one of the team’s drivers, initially for the TCR Germany series. The team have confirmed that the 17-year-old will join them in making the switch to the pan-European-based series.
“We are really thankful for two successful years in ADAC TCR Germany,” said Team Owner Andreas Gummerer. “The decision was made by driver requests and we are happy that Reece Barr stays onboard with our new challenge.”
Gummerer explained that the first leads about competing in TCR Europe came when the team took part in the one-event TCR Europe cup at the end of 2017, in which Files and Giacomo Altoè.
“The relationship started in Adria Raceway for the TCR Europe Trophy finals. We have been impressed from the performance of the car and we are confident that we will have a very competitive package.”
The team have yet to announce the other two drivers for the coming season.
