Italian team Romeo Ferraris have today confirmed that they will enter two Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR cars in the 2018 FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) for two yet-to-be-announced drivers in a satellite team.
The Italian outfit ran two cars in the 2017 TCR International Series under the GE-Force banner for Georgian racer Davit Kajaia and Serbian driver Dušan Borković in 2017, with the former securing a memorable win in the opening round in Rustavi.
Romeo Ferraris have now confirmed that they will enter two cars in WTCR, although no news on drivers was revealed. Both Kajaia and Borković remain linked with the team for 2018.
“We are delighted to announce the entry of our cars in the FIA WTCR,” said Operations Manager Michela Cerruti. “For our company, it is a big step forward, as after two seasons in the TCR International, we will enter a FIA-sanctioned world series, providing technical assistance to our cars.
“The proposition is certainly very interesting and we rely a lot on the WTCR promoters and organisers to deliver a winning package.
“The introduction of TCR cars will certainly raise the level of both the competition and the show on track, in a series that has always attracted huge numbers of spectators and viewers.”
