The 2018 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters campaign for BMW Motorsport sees an alteration in the current line-up, with both Joel Eriksson and Philipp Eng replacing the outgoing Maxime Martin and Tom Blomqvist.
Martin announced his departure from the Munich manufacturer just one day before the customary unveil at BMW’s annual end-of-season celebrations, looking to move to new challenges in his career.
Blomqvist moves to Formula E alongside former DTM stablemate António Félix da Costa at MS&AD Andretti, having raced with Team RBM for the past three years.
Eriksson, 19, who is currently a part of the BMW Motorsport Junior program, has spent the last two seasons in Formula 3, taking the runner-up spot after a strong showing that saw the Swede take seven wins in the process.
Austrian Eng has been racing in sports cars most recently, competing with Team Schnitzer in the ADAC GT Masters in a BMW M6, dovetailing that with partial appearances with BMW customer team ROWE Racing in both the Blancpain GT Series Sprint and Endurance Cup classes.
The pair also took part in the end of season Young Drivers Test back in October at the Lausitzring, where they impressed BMW management.
Both rookies will team up alongside 2012 champion Bruno Spengler at Bert Mampaey’s RBM outfit, with two-time champion Marco Wittmann, Timo Glock and Augusto Farfus continuing to race with Team RMG.
