Matt Neal has been reinstated in fourth on the grid for Sunday’s first British Touring Car Championship race at Snetterton, after the Honda driver’s lap time, which was deleted for failing a ride height check, was reinstated.
Neal had his best lap time deleted after around 20 minutes in the qualifying session, dropping to the bottom of the timesheets before going on to put in a subsequent time of 1:57.564 that proved to be only good enough for 23rd.
However the three-time champion has since had his best time reinstated after further investigations following an appeal by the team, giving Neal back fourth on the grid for the first race, 0.829 seconds adrift of pole-sitter Jack Goff.
A non-official was assisting with the weighing and ride-height checking process, which is not permitted by the regulations, which state that only registered scrutineers and officials may enter the weighing / ride height checking area.
