Norbert Michelisz continues to top the times in Hungary

Norbert Michelisz was once again the quickest driver in second practice for the TCR International Series at the Hungaroring, with the M1Ra Honda driver over half a second clear of Leopard Racing’s Jean-Karl Vernay.

Michelisz traded top times during the session with team-mate Attila Tassi and the Volkswagen of Vernay, who was 0.736 seconds behind the home hero.

Tassi ended up third, having briefly been quickest on two occasions during the session, firstly with a time of 1 minute 55.158 seconds, then latterly with his lap of 1 minute 53.781 seconds, before firstly Vernay and then Michelisz went faster.

Craft-Bamboo Racing’s James Nash was fourth heading up a trio of the Anglo-Kong Kong team’s cars, over a second off the pace, ahead of fellow Brit and team-mate Daniel Lloyd in fifth.

Pepe Oriola was sixth, 1 and a half seconds off the pace, having himself briefly been fastest in the early stages of the session.

WestCoast Racing duo Gianni Morbidelli and Giacomo Altoè were seventh and eighth respectively, whilst Jens Reno Møller and DG Sport Compétition’s Mat’o Homola completed the top ten.

Møller was later summoned to see the Stewards as he repeatedly exceeded the track limits.

Reigning champion Stefano Comini could manage just 19th fastest in his Audi, with Comtoyou Racing team-mate Frédéric Vervisch also struggling and missing out on the top ten, with neither of the pair within 2.5 seconds of Michelisz’s pace.

Zengő Motorsport managed to complete three more of their cars on Saturday, with former WTCC racer Dániel Nagy taking to the circuit in his SEAT and ending up 18th quickest.

Anett György also took to the track in her older-spec SEAT. The team are continuing to work on the brand new KIA Cee’d for Ferenc Ficza, and as a result he failed to post a time in the half-hour session, having gone just a few hundred metres before a broken cable throttle caused a red-flag stoppage.

Qualifying takes place at 16:50 CEST (15:50 BST) and will be streamed live online.
