Top Run Motorsport will make their first appearance of the season in the TCR International Series at the Salzburgring this weekend, having updated their Subaru to improve its reliability.
The Italian outfit were last seen in the international series in Thailand last year, when Luigi Ferrara retired from both races with cooling issues.
The team have since competed in the TCR Middle East Series earlier this year, when both Ferrara and Giacomo Altoè got behind the wheel for the first two events, but the car continued to struggle with reliability issues around its gearbox.
Nevertheless, a much-needed podium came for Altoè in Abu Dhabi in a small field in the regional championship, the second for the car after it took a podium in TCR Italy in 2016.
“We have recently completed a very satisfactory test at Adria, where the car has run without the lesser technical issue,” explained Team Manager Renato Russo. “This make us confident that we will be able to show its actual potential in Austria.”
Ferrara will get behind the wheel for the team’s return, marking his third weekend in the TCR International Series.
