TCR BeNeLux regular Benjamin Lessennes will join the TCR International Series field at Spa-Francorchamps next weekend, racing a Honda Civic for Boutsen Ginion Racing.
The 17-year-old Lessennes has already proven himself to be one of the up-and-coming stars of TCR BeNeLux, having finished eighth overall in the 2016 championship, including securing his first win at the final meeting at Mettet.
Already in 2017 Lessennes has claimed two podiums in the season-opener at Spa last weekend, finishing second in race one and third in race two, joining regular TCR International stars Stefano Comini and Jean-Karl Vernay on the podium.
Now the Belgian driver has the chance to take to the international stage, as he will take the same Civic that he races in TCR BeNeLux to the International series event at the circuit next weekend.
“This is a real opportunity to see where I am facing the elite of the TCR International Series,” said Lessennes. “The challenge is great, but I hope that I will be at their level and achieve a good result during this prestigious race meeting!”
The participation of Lessennes also marks the first foray into the International Series for Boutsen Ginion Racing, who delivered the title for Stéphane Lémeret in 2016.
“Benjamin is racing with us since last year and the TCR International Series meeting at Spa will be an interesting experience for him,” added Team Manager Olivier Lainé.
“Additional experience is always good for a young driver like him and it will also be good for our team to discover the level of International Series.”
