Jack Goff is relishing the opportunity to get back into the thick of the action at Brands Hatch this weekend as the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship returns for a new season with a vengeance.
Goff, who finally climbed to the top stop of the podium for the first time at Snetterton last year, has made the switch to West Surrey Racing for this year and will drive the IHG-backed BMW 125i M-Sport alongside new team-mates Rob Collard and Sam Tordoff.
Goff claimed a notable second placed finish at the Brands opener last year during his maiden weekend with MG, and is looking forward to forging new memories with the Kent circuit in the near future.
“Brands Hatch has always been a good circuit for me. I took my first Clio Cup win and BTCC podium there and was second on the Indy Circuit last year.” explained Goff.
“The BMWs have always been strong on the Indy Circuit too, so I’m pretty confident that we can have a good weekend.”
Reflecting on the progress made during the off-season by himself and the team, which is believed to include a big engine upgrade for the RWD machine, Goff explains the difficulty in predicting the pecking order during pre-season, but believes that the pace of the car combined with consistency should stand him in good stead.
We’ve achieved some good results in testing and I’m sure we’re going to have a strong basis from which to start, but you never really know where you are in the pecking order until everyone comes to the first race and shows their hand. The most important job for the weekend is to stay out of trouble and come away with a good haul of points from the three races.”
