Following the publication of the 2016 calendars for the WTCC, BTCC, DTM and TCR International Series, TouringCars.Net presents a summary of the major international series in the 2016 touring car calendar.
The season will kick off with the opening round of the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) in Russia on 20 March, with the venue widely reported to be the Sochi Autodrom, although the agreement has yet to be signed.
As is normal for the touring car calendar, April and May will be the busiest months, with no fewer than 14 events between the four series over the eight weekends.
As such, clashes are inevitable, with the first weekend in April featuring WTCC, BTCC and TCR in action. WTCC and BTCC clash again on 17 April, whilst WTCC and TCR clash the following week on 24 April.
By far the busiest weekend of the season will be that of 7 – 8 May, when all four series are in action.
Calendar clashes become less frequent in the second half of the season, with only three dates featuring more than one series.
