Polestar Cyan Racing have begun a test programme in southern Italy for their new Volvo S60 World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) contender.
With the Scandinavian winter having set in already, Cyan Racing opted to take their test and development programme to Vallelunga in Italy.
Reigning Scandinavian Touring Car Champion Thed Björk was at the wheel of the new S60 during the four-day test.
“We have taken steps forward with the car from our initial tests,” said Björk. “This is of course very early days yet, but what I have experienced so far is really promising.”
Also in action were former STCC champions Robert Dahlgren and Fredrik Ekblom, who are both also in contention for a race seat at the team in 2016.
Polestar Cyan Racing Team Manager Fredrik Wahlén added that the team have continued to make progress, but insisted that most of the development is still to come.
”We have been able to complete our test schedule according to plan and without any major problems so far, providing us with a lot of answers to the questions we have,” said Wahlén. “The development phase is still in the early stages where we are currently creating a foundation for our WTCC assault.
“We have the majority of development work still ahead of us, but it is of course rewarding to start our test programme in a positive manner.”
The identities of Polestar Cyan Racing’s two 2016 drivers will be revealed before the end of the year.
