Andrew Jordan ‘lost’ during qualifying

Andrew Jordan said he and his Triple Eight Racing team were ‘lost’ during British Touring Car Championship qualifying at Brands Hatch after he finished the session in 13th.

Jordan’s pace had been promising in the day’s earlier practice sessions – where he also battled differential issues – but despite hauling his MG6 GT to within six-tenths-of-a-second of polesitter Mat Jackson, Jordan was forced to settle for a starting slot on row seven, two places behind team-mate Jack Goff.

Speaking to TouringCars.Net the 2013 champion was in good spirits, but reflecting on qualifying was at a loss to describe his position.

“I’m not okay with that,” said a disgruntled Jordan. “That’s just…we’re lost. The car is just trying to throw me off through the quick stuff and when you have that around here you’re screwed.

“That was actually quite a nice lap but I couldn’t attack, I didn’t know what I had.”

“I’ve said to the guys that we need to have a look because it feels like there’s something fundamentally wrong with it – the car, and the brakes were just horrendous.”

The 26 year-old – who still retains a mathematical chance of winning the championship – admitted that Sunday’s three races were likely to be a struggle, and reiterated that he was unhappy with his position.

“It’s going to be a tough day,” admitted Jordan. “I have no idea, I’m lost for words. Weight-corrected, me and Jack are equally as slow as each other and we’re outside the top ten which is a farce really.”
