Gordon Shedden won an eventful second British Touring Car Championship race at Rockingham, ahead of race one winner Mat Jackson and a charging Josh Cook.
Shedden eased away at the front to claim a fourth win of the season, but Cook in third stole the show after rising from 14th on the race two grid with a number of impressive overtakes, including a daring move around the outside of Adam Morgan at the final corner to snatch a maiden podium.
After setting the fastest lap in Race One, Shedden led away from pole in his Honda Civic Type-R as Jackson muscled passed Morgan around the outside of the Deene hairpin.
Jackson looked racy in his Ford Focus after that move but Shedden quickly asserted his dominance at the front, and began to stretch an advantage.
And Shedden steered clear of the action behind him to the flag, leading a lonely race to claim a lights-to-flag victory to move into a 20-point lead in the drivers’ championship.
Jackson had resisted Morgan during the middle stages of the race but shook off the Ciceley Motorsport driver in the closing stages to follow his Race One win up with a second, but it was Cook’s drive to third that was most impressive.
Cook had started on row seven but made swift progress in the opening laps to rise into tenth, before first dispatching Hunter Abbott and then Jeff Smith into Deene early on.
The Power Maxed Racing driver continued his march as he overtook Rob Austin, Matt Neal, Colin Turkington and Jack Goff before closing up to Morgan in the closing laps.
It looked as though a maiden podium might evade him with Morgan covering his lunges into Deene, but after getting a better exit from Tarzan Cook drew alongside his rival into Brook, carrying more momentum to sweep around the outside onto the straight to snatch third.
Neal wasn’t much further back in fifth after holding back Austin on the final lap, while Jason Plato drove a mature race to come home in seventh.
Turkington dropped back late on to finish in eighth, as did Jack Goff who finished just in front of Tom Ingram, who will start the third race from pole.
Race Three starts at 16:40 BST.
