Monégasque driver Gabriele Marotta will join Target Competition in a fourth SEAT León for the TCR International Series races at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
Marotta, who works as an investment advisor in Monaco, will make his TCR début, having previously raced in single-seater, touring car and GT racing competition in the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s and 2000s.
The Monaco driver claimed a podium result in last year’s 100 Miles of Magione at the wheel of an AF Corse Ferrari 458 in his only competitive outing since 2010.
The Rome-born driver has set his sights on this weekend’s races being more than just a one-off foray into the new championship.
“I elected to come back to motorsport in TCR, as I see it as the only reasonable and sustainable category of touring cars in the near future,” said Marotta of the TCR Series. “I will try my best to be as competitive as I can, bearing in mind that I have not raced in the last four years and that I have no knowledge of the team and the car.
“I am looking forward to the event in the Red Bull Ring that, I hope, could be a prelude to my participation in the full season next year.”
