Jimmy Clairet led an Audi 1-2-3 in the final TCR Europe practice session at the Autódromo do Algarve, edging out his Team Clairet Sport brother Teddy by less than a tenth of a second.
With just under ten minutes to go, it had been PMA Motorsport’s Felice Jelmini who topped the times, but four minutes later the Clairet brothers usurped the Italian.
Jimmy Clairet actually put in two laps in quick session good enough for the top, with his final effort of 1:52.030 ensuring that he beat his brother Teddy to the top time.
Jelmini was 0.128 seconds back in third, ahead of the leading Honda of MM Motorsport’s Marco Butti in fourth.
Julien Briché substantially improved on his first practice performance to be the leading Hyundai racer in fifth, ahead of the ALM Motorsport Honda of Ruben Volt in sixth.
2024 TCR Italy champion Nicolas Taylor was seventh, just under six tenths off the pace, ahead of MA:GP’s Viktor Andersson in eighth.
The top ten was rounded out by RC2’s Santiago Concepción and Felipe Fernández, the former being the last driver within a second of the top time.
First practice pace-setter Eric Gené could only manage 13th quickest, as neither of the Monlau Motorsport CUPRA drivers broke into the top ten, Jenson Brickley putting his Leon in 12th.
Qualifying gets underway at 09:25 WEST (09:25 BST, 10:25 CEST) on Saturday.
