Viktor Andersson confirms TCR Europe stay in 2025

Sweden’s Viktor Andersson will once again race in the TCR Europe series in 2025, as he continues in his MA:GP-run Lynk & Co 03 TCR.

Andersson, 21, made his début in the series at the start of the 2023 season, when he ended the season in joint fifth in a year when only six drivers committed to the full season.

He moved forward in 2024, scoring three TCR Europe podium finishes on his way to seventh overall against a much more competitive field.

Andersson will return for a third season in the European series in 2025, once again competing with his father Mattias’ family-run team.

“I’m really looking forward to it, and it’s the third year for our team, so we’ve learned a lot from the two seasons in the past,” said Andersson. “The calendar is much more like our first year in 2023, when we were racing on the bigger circuits too.

“The goal is to be in the top three of the championship standings at the end of the year and also hopefully to fight for the young drivers’ trophy.

“We have had a look over the car over the winter, and now that it’s finally stopped snowing here in Sweden we’ll be out testing before the end of March to be fully prepared for Portimão.”

Team Principal Mattias Andersson hopes for the Linköping-based team and his son to continue the momentum from the end of 2024, when Viktor bagged two podiums in the final three events.

“Last year we started the year a little bit slow but were much stronger at the end of the season,” added Mattias Andersson. “Hopefully we’ll be able to continue the momentum we had at the end of last year.

“We’ll be back with our 2022-specification Lynk & Co. We’ll continue with our orange colour, it’s simple and it’s good to have a car that’s easy to spot on the circuit.

“The goal is to do the six rounds of TCR Europe, and it’ll be good to maybe do one of the World Tour events in Europe, and then also look at the FIA TCR World Ranking Final.

“It’s always nice when you’re racing on Formula 1 circuits. The only one that isn’t is Misano, and that’s a very nice circuit anyway, I raced there back in the 2000s.

“The prize of having support to move up to the next level in the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour is also a good step, it’s some help like they do in America.

“It’s something that really helps and is also good publicity for the championship.”
