The TCR Europe series has announced that it is now promoted by Rubén Fernández and is expecting a field of more than 20 cars for the forthcoming 2025 season.
Since its launch in 2018, through to the 2024 season, the series had been promoted by Paolo Ferreira, enjoying comfortable grid numbers through its first four seasons, but with grid numbers decreasing in recent years.
During the 2024 season there were only around a dozen full-season competitors, although grid numbers were bolstered by one-off entrants on occasion, in particular for the season finale in Valencia, where 18 cars participated.
Following a number of changes during the off-season, including a change of promoter, the series has now confirmed that all of the teams that took part in the full 2024 season – Monlau Motorsport, ALM Motorsport, SP Compétition, GOAT Racing and MA:GP, will return for 2025.
In addition, new teams have confirmed their entry, taking the teams count to 11 and the grid of potential cars to over 20. Several teams entered have also competed in the highly-subscribed TCR Italy series in recent seasons.
Fernández will also take over the promotion of the series. The Spaniard has been a staunch supporter of TCR in recent seasons, making his début as a driver in 2021 and competing in selected races in TCR Germany, TCR Europe, TCR Italy and TCR Spain. He also founded the Barcelona-based GOAT Racing team which has competed in TCR Europe and the FIA TCR World Tour with Honda machinery.
“I’m delighted with the reception that we’ve had for the 2025 TCR Europe season from the teams,” said Fernández.
“We’ve been working hard throughout the winter, and we have a quality calendar this year with some fantastic tracks, and we can also confirm an incredible array of highly professional teams, which will bring with them equally strong drivers as we relaunch the series this year.”
The series already announced last week that it would award in-season prize incentives for teams, including race tyres given to the best-ranked scorers each weekend.
The top overall scorer for each event will be given six free Kumho race tyres for the following race meeting, with the second-highest scorer getting four tyres and the third-highest scorer receiving two tyres.
The overall drivers’ champion will also receive a full-season entry fee for the subsequent FIA TCR World Tour season and 100 race tyres to support such a campaign.
“I want to thank all the teams that have confirmed their participation today,” added Fernández. “It’s fantastic to be able to confirm such an amazing and truly international field of teams this early.
“With some time before the season starts, we hope to have even more announcements in the coming weeks, especially given our strong prize initiatives which we announced last week.”
