The TCR Australia series will be promoted by a new rights holder in 2025, with Motorsport Asia’s David Sonenscher taking over the reigns.
The series has been promoted by Australian Racing Group (ARG) for its first five seasons, commencing in 2019, but the erstwhile promoter has elected not to continue in 2025 after a few challenging seasons.
Sonenscher was an early investor in the TCR format, and promoted the TCR Asia series when it first began in 2015, through to 2019, after which the series was promoted by Lisheng Sports for a couple of years before Sonenscher resumed TCR Asia promotion in 2024.
Sonenscher will head up a new entity to promote TCR Australia, and will work closely with the existing TCR Australia management to operate the series. The Malaysia-based Brit will attend his first TCR Australia event at Taupo Motorsport Park in New Zealand on 11-13 April.

“The series is taking a new direction in 2025 on many fronts, and I am committed to working with the existing series management, the partners and suppliers who make the series happen, and of course, the TCR Australia teams to take the series further.”
