GRM to give new Peugeot 308 P51 TCR its début in Sydney

Garry Rogers Motorsport is to give the new Peugeot 308 P51 TCR its racing début in this weekend’s TCR Australia races at Sydney Motorsport Park.

The team, which has been developing the new Peugeot touring car racer over the past year, is to run two of the new cars for championship contenders Ben Bargwanna, currently fifth in the drivers’ standings, and Jordan Cox, currently third in the standings.

However, due to the series regulations, both Bargwanna and Cox will incur five-place grid penalties for the opening race on Saturday, due to the engine change which is associated with changing cars.

The team is in the process of building a further two chassis to complete its four-car line-up for the season finale on 8 – 10 November, which would see Aaron Cameron and Ryan Casha also able to switch to the new model from their current steeds.

Should international customers be interested, GRM would be responsible for supplying new 308 P51 cars to the global TCR market from 2025 onwards.

“Over the past 60 plus years there have been many new race cars built at GRM and the excitement of launching a new car has not changed,” said GRM Director Barry Gorgers.

“The P51 Peugeot TCR project has been very challenging and Dad [Garry] and I are tremendously proud of the team.”
