Cyan Racing has confirmed a four-car campaign in this year’s FIA TCR World Tour, with an unchanged driver line-up of Yann Ehrlacher, Thed Björk, Ma Qing Hua and Santiago Urrutia.
The Swedish team will once again use the facelifted Lynk & Co 03 TCR for its attack at the top level of World Touring Cars.
Last year, Ehrlacher narrowly missed out on the drivers’ title to Hyundai’s Norbert Michelisz, finishing second overall with three victories.
However, Cyan Racing, with its four-strong line-up, managed to win the 2023 Team’s Championship in last year’s TCR World Tour.
“We are proud to start our ninth consecutive season in world touring cars this year where our goal is firmly set on defending our teams’ title and bringing the drivers’ title back home,” said Fredrik Wahlén, Team Manager of Cyan Racing.
“We are glad to see the TCR World Tour gaining FIA status and we have no doubt that the championship will be even more competitive this year, a challenge which further motivates every single team member of Cyan Racing.”
Two-time FIA World Touring Car Cup champion Ehrlacher is proud to continue to represent the team and brand for a sixth consecutive season.
“I am proud to keep representing Lynk & Co Cyan Racing in the TCR World Tour,” said Frenchman Ehrlacher, nephew of touring car legend Yvan Muller.
“I am as motivated for 2024 as I was for my first season with the team in 2019. We have a strong package with the Lynk & Co 03 TCR and I definitely feel ready for the challenges to come.”
Björk is continuing an even longer successive run with Cyan Racing, having raced with Cyan Racing since 2012.
“I’m thrilled to start my 13th season with the team and continue our successful run together,” said the Swede.
“I’m inspired by everyone’s motivation and commitment to defend our team title and bring back the driver’s title.
“We’ve had a good off-season with preparations ahead of the coming season and I’m more than ready.”
Uruguayan Urrutia first raced with Cyan Racing in the 2020 FIA WTCR and is looking to build on the three wins he scored last year.
“I’m super excited to be back for my fifth season with Cyan Racing and I’m counting the days to go back racing,” said Urrutia.
“It will be a really challenging season with a lot of new circuits and competitors, but I know that everyone in the team has worked really hard to improve during the off-season and I have a good feeling.”
Ma has only been with the outfit for two seasons so far, and last year scored his first win with the Gothenburg based squad at El Pinar.
“I’m proud to keep representing Lynk & Co Cyan Racing in the TCR World Tour and I’m especially excited for this season as we return to racing in my home country China,” said Ma.
“My aim is clearly set on moving forward in the standings this year, as well as defending the team title, and I am confident that we have what it takes to do just that.”
Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, Head of Geely Group Motorsport, added:
“Cyan Racing’s track record over the past seven years is one of a kind and we are delighted to see them embark on a new season in the KUMHO FIA TCR World Tour.
“We look forward to continuing our support to their work with the Lynk & Co 03 TCR of Geely Group Motorsport in the very pinnacle of world touring competition.”
The 2024 FIA TCR World Tour kicks off at Vallelunga next weekend.
