Will Powell will return to TCR UK in 2024, racing a Honda Civic Type-R FK7 TCR run under the Sport 77 team banner for the full season.
The 38-year-old made his touring car début back in 2021 when he contested the opening three meetings of the then-named Touring Car Trophy.
However, Powell only finished one race out of seven entered, when he was seventh at Brands Hatch.
He joined the British Touring Car Championship the following year with Team HARD, but never finished higher than 21st before switching to One Motorsport for 2023.
There, Powell took part in the first half of the season, bagging a best result of 18th, before parting with the team in the summer.
This year he returns to TCR, where he will join forces with Bert Taylor and JAS Motorsport to run the older-generation Honda Civic – with talks ongoing about upgrading to the newer Civic during the year.
Powell’s car is on display at the Autosport International show in Hall 3 on Stand 3650.
“It’s great to be able to confirm my entry with the Honda Civic Type R FK7 TCR for the 2024 season and a new team identity with Sport77,” said Powell, who will work with race engineer Sean Hurley.
“TCR UK as championship has made big strides forward in recent seasons and I’m ready to take part in what looks like its most competitive season so far.

“Having Sean on board adds to the talent we have, which will give us a positive start to the new season as we prepare the FK7 to go racing.

Championship Promoter Stewart Lines is pleased to see Powell return to TCR UK for the 2024 season.

Details of additional drivers to join Powell are expected to be revealed at a later date.
