29-year-old Spaniard Pepe Oriola will return to the TCR Europe series for this weekend’s season finale at the Circuit Barcelona-Catalunya, racing an Audi RS3 LMS run by RC2 Motorsport.
Oriola last raced in any TCR series at the same circuit 12 months ago, when he concluded a campaign in the European series with Aggressive Team Italia, ending the year 11th overall.
The 14-time TCR race winner and 2021 TCR South America champion will partner the team’s regular driver Rubén Fernández Gil, who has already contested two TCR Europe events this year alongside a full-season campaign in TCR Italy.
“I’m back one year after my last race, at Barcelona in TCR Europe, and I can’t help but feel excited to relive the thrill of racing,” said Oriola, who lives in Catalunya.
“I am aware that this weekend there is a lot at stake in this championship. The victory will be decided in Montmeló, but my goal is different. Apart from my rivals on the track, I am aiming to score valuable points for the team.
“It is a track I know very well and where I am looking forward to racing. I hope to be supported by my fans and to give them a good result at home.”
