Ash Sutton took yet another win to take his tally to 12 as his NAPA Racing UK Ford won race two around the Brands Hatch GP circuit.
A fastest lap and all laps led is how the race went for Sutton. Again building out a gap of over one second throughout the race. This was the case until a crash between his teammate Sam Osborne and James Gornall came together to bring out the safety car. The race restarted for one lap before the chequered flag came out.
Behind was once again Tom Ingram who cannot match the pace of Sutton out front. As has been the case with the championship Ingram has been close but not close enough. Sutton was the only driver in the 1:30’s and had a 0.703 second gap after the one lap restart to Ingram.
In third was Dan Cammish getting back to some of his best after an unlucky season. Having the soft tyres allowed him to move forward to pull his way onto the podium. In the end Cammish was more of a threat to Ingram than Ingram was to Sutton with a 0.218 second gap across the line.
In fourth was Ricky Collard who had a tremendous opening stint of the race thanks to the soft tyres. Starting in eighth Collard was flying from the start as the three behind him were on the medium tyre.
Bobby Thompson is having an incredible weekend coming home in fifth. Starting from third and only getting overtaken by soft runners is nothing short of a great race. All while running out of hybrid halfway through the race is nothing short of a great drive.
In sixth is where we find Jake Hill as the lead BMW. Hill was a part of the big fight in behind the defensive drive of Thompson but unable to get through. Only crossing the line 0.251 seconds behind the Cupra.
Josh Cook was another who had an astounding race also whilst on the medium tyre. Starting from 12th the One Motorsport driver was charging forward coming across the line in seventh. Whilst doing so getting an even smaller margin only 0.099 seconds behind, alongside, Hill.
Dan Rowbottom was the third and final NAPA Racing UK Ford to finish in the top 10 after the incident that teammate Osborne had. Rowbottom started seventh but even on softs lost places even with the likes of Colin Turkington not finishing due to a first lap collision on the outside of Druids.
The second BMW inside the top 10 is Stephen Jelley. After his contact with Mikey Doble in race one this race was less eventful for the Team BMW car. Behind Jelley was Dan Lloyd making it two Cupra’s inside the top 10.
Andrew Watson finished the race in 18th place but after Doble not finishing in race one and Osborne in race two he is crowned the Jack Sears’ Trophy champion of 2023.
