Andrew Watson flew to the top of the timesheet late on to take top spot from Power Maxed Racing teammate Árón Taylor-Smith.
The pace was in the Astra’s from the moment the day started but more so for Taylor-Smith until FP2. Watson set a 57.633 outpacing his teammate by 0.099 seconds. Despite topping the session the #11 car set the least amount of laps inside the top 10 with 19.
Tom Ingram sat in behind the pair showing the pace shown in the EXCELR8 Hyundai in the morning session. Only being 0.132 seconds off of the top spot is encouraging for qualifying for the man trying to hunt down Ash Sutton for the championship.
In fourth was FP1 pacesetter Jake Hill. Despite the drop in position the time the MB Motorsport driver set was two tenths off the time he set in the opening session. In the end only 0.040 seconds off a top three place.
Ronan Pearson continued his strong form from the morning session. Another top five performance left Pearson 0.057 seconds behind teammate Ingram. The #14 car set the joint most laps in the top 10 with 27.
Colin Turkington is consistently toward the sharp end of the grid over the opening two sessions. A sixth place finish left the Team BMW car 0.275 seconds off of Watson. Turkington also equalled Pearson’s amount of laps.
Mikey Doble made sure that all three Power Maxed Racing cars were inside the top 10. 0.289 seconds off of leading teammate Watson bodes well in the run up to qualifying.
Dan Cammish in eighth is the lead Napa Racing UK car and the only inside the top 10. Teammate and championship leader Ash Sutton finished the session in 21st. Cammish was close to a bump up after finishing 0.002 seconds behind Doble.
Rory Butcher was the sole Toyota Gazoo Racing UK car in the top 10. Setting a 57.936 second lap Butcher was 0.303 seconds off of Watson. Getting his position as he crossed the line to take the chequered flag.
Adam Morgan rounded out the top 10. The Team BMW driver continued everyone being inside one tenth of the car in front. In fact, it went all the way down to 24th place before someone was outside of that.
