Ricky Collard put together a late lap to send his Toyota Gazoo Racing UK car to the top of the timesheet at a wet Knockhill. The #37 car put together the lap just before the third red flag of the session.
As of the nature of Knockhill the times between the field were incredibly tight. The top three alone were split by 0.079 seconds. The first to sit behind Collard was Josh Cook, leader of the session for the majority before the late lap from the Toyota.
Only 0.008 seconds behind Cook was Jake Hill. Despite their times being tight the amount of running could not have been more different. Collard completed the most laps in the session with 17, Hill with 11 and Cook with eight. Being the only driver other than Dexter Patterson, who was banned from FP1 after competing at Knockhill recently, to complete single digit laps.
Championship leader Ash Sutton was fourth in first practice. The NAPA Racing UK car was the first of the drivers outside one tenth of the leader Collard. Setting a 56.477, Sutton was 1.033 seconds and 15 places ahead of nearest rival Tom Ingram.
In fifth was the first repeat manufacturer with Colin Turkington placing his Team BMW 0.069 seconds behind Sutton. Andrew Watson placed highly for Power Maxed Racing narrowly missing out on a top five performance by 0.004 seconds.
Dan Cammish placed himself in seventh only 0.010 seconds outside of the top five. Setting 15 lap times Cammish was the key data collector for NAPA Racing UK completing the most laps within the team.
In eighth was Rory Butcher making it two Toyota Gazoo Racing UK cars inside the top 10. After teammate George Gamble caused the second red flag, the remaining Toyotas started climbing the timesheet with Butcher only 0.288 seconds behind Collard.
Ronan Pearson came to the flag in ninth place making himself the only EXCELR8 Hyundai inside the top 10. Closing out the top 10 was Dan Lloyd making the top 10 covered by 0.373 seconds.
