Jake Hill improved from his earlier third place to put the MB Motorsports BMW at the top of the timesheets. A session that ran much smoother than FP1 with zero interruptions.
After there was little rain in the air the lap times were quicker than the morning session but still on a wet track. Hill set a 55.417 second lap putting himself over one tenth in front of second place Tom Ingram. The only gap over one tenth inside the top 10.
Ingram massively improved in the second session moving up 17 positions to take his second place spot. The EXCELR8 driver could not quite match the pace of Hill setting a 55.586 second lap.
In third was Josh Cook who has consistently held himself near the top of the timesheets. A feat all drivers would be happy with heading into qualifying. Cook, 0.098 seconds behind Ingram, set a 55.684 second lap.
The first of the NAPA Racing UK Ford’s came in the form of Dan Cammish. Missing out on a top three performance by 0.005 seconds. After improving on a seventh place finish in FP1 and leading the team in FP2 the pace is clearly improving leading up to qualifying.
Championship leader Ash Sutton had a hindered session after spring changes left the car in the garage for a good chunk of the session. Despite only completing 14 laps Sutton was only 0.009 seconds from third place Cook.
Andrew Watson climbed to sixth place setting a 55.709 second lap. The Power Maxed Racing Vauxhall was only 0.016 seconds behind the championship leader setting a team best 24 laps for the session.
Behind was Power Maxed Racing teammate Árón Taylor-Smith. As the team embed themselves inside the top 10 to what could be a very positive weekend for the team. Taylor-Smith was only 0.068 seconds behind Watson.
Ricky Collard could not keep up the pace of the opening session falling to eighth in FP2. The Toyota Gazoo Racing UK car set the most laps of the session with 28. Setting a 55.836 second lap Collard was 0.059 seconds behind Taylor-Smith.
The second EXCELR8 Hyundai inside the top 10 was Ronan Pearson. Setting a 55.838 Pearson was only 0.002 seconds behind Collard. Completing 22 laps Pearson set the most for the team making it two ninth places in a row.
Rounding out the top 10 was Rory Butcher making it two Toyota Gazoo Racing UK cars inside the top 10. Despite their overall performance lowering from the first session having both inside the top 10 bodes well for qualifying. Butcher meant the top 10 was covered by 0.439 seconds.
