Colin Turkington has been disqualified from the qualifying session that determines the grid for Round 13. The Team BMW driver will start from last for Round 13.
Turkington qualified initially in seventh setting a 1:25.475 placing him only 0.010 seconds behind reigning champion Tom Ingram in sixth.
The four-time champion was the first to set lap times in the final session also setting more lap times than anybody else. On top of this his fastest lap came on his final lap of the session.
The Team BMW car went into post-session scrutineering and failed the check regarding fuel. This means the #4 car is removed from the results and will start last for Round 13.
The official document states Turkington “Failed to comply with CR 5.2.8.4 regarding fuel and hence CR 5 in respect of eligibility.” which led to him “Be disqualified from the results of qualifying for round 13 of the championship.”
CR 5.2.8.4 states that “at least 3 litres of fuel must remain in each competitor’s fuel tank at the end of each Qualifying session and Race.”
