Tom Ingram: “I’m not fussed about looking for a win” after qualifying second at Snetterton

After what appeared to be an impressive qualifying, Tom Ingram thought it was “a bit of a case of what could have been”. The EXCELR8 driver had been consistently quick and the closest to Ash Sutton so far this weekend.

Ingram has had a season currently based off of consistency. Saturday afternoon at Snetterton was nothing short of putting in another solid performance to set up a chance to perform on Sunday.

“Yeah, I think we are in fairly good shape.” Ingram told TouringCars.Net. “I think it’s a bit of a case of what could have been as well. I probably lost half a second on my best lap, so there’s a chunk to have found and linked together as well.

“So, yeah, fairly pleased to have got through it, fairly pleased to be in, kind of in the mix, in fairly good shape, but also acutely aware that we’re where we want to be.

“Given the last couple of weekends, the last two qualifying sessions, we’re far better placed than we have been for those. So, yeah, feeling good for it. Just got to make sure we convert this into a good day tomorrow as well.”

Despite not having a win yet this season, Ingram is not desperate to make it onto the top step. Many would be eager for it. Not Ingram.

“No, I don’t think so. I think I’m still not fussed. I’m not fussed about looking for a win. I’m happy to be just at the front and stay consistent. Ultimately, it’s the points that stack up.

“Obviously, a win comes with a few more points, but yeah, I’m fairly happy with where we’ve been so far. I think we probably outperformed on Sunday. So I’m just happy to be at the front, already starting a lot further forwards than we have been for the last two.

“Just got to stay consistent over the course of tomorrow. We’ve obviously got the three tyres that are changing. We’ve got the soft, medium and hard to look at as well. So that’s going to add another, you know, inconsistency to the mix. We’ve got to make sure we maximise there.”
