TCR’s newest race winner Lewis Brown has signed a deal to race with Volcano Motorsport in the TCR Europe series this year, where he will race an Audi RS3 LMS for the full season.
Brown, 24, made his TCR début at Snetterton earlier this month, racing a CUPRA Leon Competición for Chameleon Motorsport.
He impressed from the off, and emerged victorious in only his second race in the series, coming through from seventh on the grid.
It likely means an early conclusion to Brown’s TCR UK season, where he sits second overall after the opening round, as the two series clash on two occasions later in the year.
He will now switch to the European TCR series for the rest of the year, and in the season-opener at the Autodromo do Algarve in Portugal he will team up with 2022 TCR UK runner-up Isaac Smith, who recently signed a deal for the first event of the year.
“Initially, my 2023 plans were to race in the TCR UK championship, however when the opportunity arose to join Volcano Motorsport in TCR Europe, I couldn’t turn it down,” said Brown.
“Isaac being in the team definitely helped with my decision to join Volcano. Having raced against him in other championships I know he’s a quick driver, so together we should be able to get the Audi RS 3 LMS to the sharp end of the field.
“Volcano are a race-winning proven team, so I’ll be in good hands for my first season in Europe. The step up to the European scene is going to be an extremely exciting one, especially with three rounds being part of the Kumho TCR World Tour.
“I’m ready and raring to go for this new challenge, and I can’t wait for some wheel-to-wheel battles with the best of the best!”
