Jake Hill heads into this weekend’s British Touring Car Championship finale ‘incredibly motivated’ to gain his maiden drivers’ title, with the MB Motorsport driver hoping to continue the momentum which has seen him be the top scoring driver in the second half of the season.
Hill has risen to second overall in the drivers’ standings, just five points behind leader Ash Sutton, two wins and seven podium finishes from the past 12 races.
In fact, the Kent racer has only once finished lower than fifth since the season resumed at Knockhill in July, with a troublesome reverse-grid race at Thruxton.
At the most recent round at Silverstone, Hill won once again and he carries momentum going to his home round on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.
Hill has been the best qualifier in the season thus far, putting his BMW on the front row in six out of the nine events to-date.
Although he only has 1.5 seconds of hybrid boost available to him in qualifying on Saturday, the 2022 form guide has shown that even pole position remains attainable with little hybrid.
“Here we are, the final round of the season and we have one goal – to win the British Touring Car Championship,” said Hill.
“It’s been an incredible season and I’m so thankful for all of the support I have received this year – from the team, the sponsors, my family and all of the fans.
“Coming to my home race, and favourite circuit, Brands Hatch GP, I couldn’t pick a better venue for the finale and I’m extremely motivated, and excited, for what lies ahead.”
MB Motorsport Sporting Director Mark Blundell, who has worked with Hill since 2019, lauded Hill’s season so far.
“2022 has been an incredible journey for everyone involved and I’m extremely proud of Jake and all of the team for how far we’ve all come,” said Blundell.
“Jake is super motivated, as is everyone in the team, so we are all feeling confident and prepared for what Brands Hatch has in store for us!
“We wouldn’t be in this position without the support of all of our sponsors and partners – so a special thank you to them.
“27 races down, three left to compete – one championship to win… Let’s get it!”
