Martin Andersen took pole position for the opening ADAC TCR Germany race of the weekend at the Nürburgring, beating Liqui Moly Team Engstler team-mate Szymon Ładniak by 0.345 seconds.
Andersen, the current championship leader, smashed the previous lap record around the short Nürburgring circuit by almost seven tenths of a second as he secured his third pole position of the season, with Ładniak unable to get close to the Dane.
NordPass’ Jonas Karklys was the best of the Hyundai drivers in third, ahead of ROJA Motorsport’s Jessica Bäckman in fourth, the Swede being just over half a second off the pace.
The only other driver within a second of Andersen was ROJA’s René Kircher in fifth.
Vincent Radermecker qualified his Opel Astra in sixth, ahead of the Hyundai i30 of Patrick Sing in seventh.
Marco Butti put his new Audi in eighth on his first appearance in the German series, whilst the top ten was completed by ROJA’s Robin Jahr and Max Gruhn’s self-entered Audi.
Race one is due to take place at 16:50 CEST (15:50 BST).
