Liqui Moly Team Engstler’s Martin Andersen made it two from two in the second ADAC TCR Germany race at the Nürburgring, converting pole to victory ahead of ROJA Motorsport’s Jessica Bäckman.
At the start it was Bäckman who moved into the lead in her Hyundai Veloster, as Andersen slotted into second.
Behind them, Patrick Sing, Max Gruhn and Robin Jahr came together under braking for Turn One, with Sing getting pincered between Gruhn and Jahr, who had dived down the inside, whilst Kai Rosowski was also caught up in the incident after finding the road ahead blocked.
All three escaped largely unscathed, although Sing and Rosowski came off worst with the biggest loss of time.
Andersen ultimately wasted little time in taking the lead from Bäckman, going around the outside of the Swede at Turn 2 on the second lap.
As Andersen’s team-mate Szymon Ładniak tried to do the same he was forced wide by Bäckman, which in turn allowed the Elite Motorsport Audi of Marco Butti into third, quickly followed by René Kircher’s Hyundai into fourth.
Butti tried to take second from Bäckman into the first corner on lap five, but after out-braking himself he then slowed with a problem with his Audi, ultimately retiring from the race.
Ładniak then dropped out a lap later, limping back to the pits with an issue, leaving Kircher to move up to third. Just one lap later, Gruhn also retired in the pits as well.
There was little action in the race thereafter, with Andersen winning the race by just under two seconds from Bäckman, whilst Kircher completed the podium.
Jonas Karklys brought his Hyundai home in fourth after lacking the pace to close in on fellow i30 racer Kircher, whilst Patrick Sing took fifth from Jahr into the chicane with six laps to go.
Vincent Radermecker then passed Jahr for sixth on the final lap with a slight rub at Turn 2, leaving Jahr to take seventh.
Roland Hertner was eighth, coming back after a stall at the start to catch and pass Kai Rosowski, who was ninth and the last classified finisher, for the place.
