TCR Germany racers Jonas Karklys and Marcel Fugel will join the grid for the TCR Europe event at the Nürburgring later this month.
Whilst TCR Germany will race at the circuit on the shorter configuration this weekend, the European series will visit the circuit three weeks’ later at the end of the month.
Lithuanian racer Karklys has so far contested all rounds of the German series, where he sits fourth overall in the drivers’ standings, having taken two podiums in the season opener. Since then he has had more mixed fortune, including being excluded from the last race held at the Salzburgring.
33-year-old Karklys, who will race his regular Hyundai i30 N TCR, was victorious at the Nürburgring in the 2021 TCR Germany season finale, one of only two wins he has picked up in TCR machinery.
Fugel will return to TCR competition when he takes part in this month’s event, giving him a first touring car outing since the 2021 season finale.
The 21-year-old German has never previously raced outside of TCR Germany, where he has been on the podium six times – three each in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
Fugel also qualified the Honda Civic Type-R which he will race in for TCR Europe on pole position in the last TCR race he contested at the Nürburgring.
