Isidro Callejas says he is targeting a double victory in TCR Europe at Spa-Francorchamps, as he seeks to continue Volcano Motorsport’s ‘tradition’ of winning both races on the Belgian circuit.
Callejas became the youngest-ever winner in the series by taking a last-minute win in Saturday’s opening race, after long-time leader Franco Girolami made a mistake on the final lap.
The 17-year-old has now set his sights on doubling up in Sunday’s reverse-grid race, where he starts from eighth.
In 2020 and 2021, the Spanish team Volcano Motorsport completed a clean-sweep of victories at Spa, thanks to former driver Mikel Azcona.
“It was a really, really good victory,” said Callejas. “The tradition of the team is to double win here, so I need to keep that up and work hard for tomorrow to see if we can do it again!
“It was a really, really good race; we have a really good car and some really strong pace. Hopefully for tomorrow we can continue this and make up some ground.
“It is difficult for TCR cars to pass, but I’m going to work hard and try my best.”
