Volcano Motorsport has confirmed that it will run three CUPRA Leon Competición cars in this year’s TCR Europe series, with Russians Klim Gavrilov and Evgenii Leonov being joined by Spaniard Isidro Callejas.
Leonov, 38, has competed almost full-time in the past two seasons of TCR Europe, missing one event in each of 2020 and 2021. He has scored a best result of ninth – his best result – in each season.
Gavrilov joined the TCR Europe series in 2021, having previously largely raced in his native Russia, and immediately impressed.
Initially racing an Audi, the 22-year-old switched to a new CUPRA with the team for the season finale in Barcelona and promptly won the final race of the season.
Callejas, only 17, took part in TCR Europe last year, his first full season of touring car racing, with Brutal Fish Racing in a Honda.
The youngster was on the podium in only his third event and ended the year a creditable 11th overall in the drivers’ standings.
He also took part in the final TCR Spain event at Barcelona with Volcano Motorsport, again securing a podium finish.
Callejas will also compete with the team in this year’s TCR Spain championship.
