Sébastien Loeb Racing will switch to running CUPRA machinery in this season’s TCR Europe, running a CUPRA Leon Competición for John Filippi.
Last year, the French team ran four Hyundai Elantra N cars, but sold them during the winter, with at least one chassis going to Aggressive Team Italia for use in TCR Italy.
Sébastien Loeb Racing will continue to compete in the European championship, but with a CUPRA for Corsican racer Filippi.
Filippi took part in the inaugural all-electric PURE ETCR series last year in a Hyundai, and last raced in TCR Europe in 2020 when he was second overall in the championship.
In fact, Filippi’s last race in TCR Europe saw him claim his first-ever touring car victory, at the time racing in a Hyundai i30 N.
He has previously raced with Sébastien Loeb Racing in 2017 when he campaigned an independent Citroën in the World Touring Car Championship.
