Jake Hill loses race one podium after ride height failure

Jake Hill has been excluded from the result of the opening British Touring Car Championship race at Donington Park, after his car failed the post-race ride height checks.

Hill had finished third on the road behind WSR stablemate Colin Turkington, after the two had scrapped hard in the opening laps.

Later in the race, Hill clipped the tyre stack at the final chicane and damaged the front-right corner of his BMW, but he was able to make it to the finish on the podium.

However, following post-race checks, Hill has now been thrown out of the result for failing the ride height checks.

That promotes Team Dynamics’ Gordon Shedden to third, whilst Hill now faces the prospect of starting race two from the back of the grid with fewer laps of hybrid boost available to him.

West Surrey Racing appealed the decision ahead of race two, in light of the damage Hill picked up during the race, but ultimately failed and Hill started from the back.

Elsewhere, Jade Edwards was penalised by three places for gaining an unfair advantage against Rick Parfitt Jr. bobby Thompson was given a five-second time penalty for a false start, which was announced during the race.
