Italian racer Giacomo Ghermandi will take on the full season of TCR Europe in 2022, racing a CUPRA Leon Competición for Scuderia Ghermandi by LEMA Racing.
Ghermandi, 37, made his TCR début last year, racing in the full season of TCR Eastern Europe before then making a one-off appearance in TCR Europe at Barcelona.
Having started off in a CUPRA TCR, Ghermandi then upgraded to the latest CUPRA Leon Competición part-way through 2021. His best result in TCR Eastern Europe was fourth in the season opener, whilst in TCR Europe he was 18th in the final race of the year.
Ghermandi was 10th overall in TCR Eastern Europe last year.
“We are delighted to announce our full-season participation in TCR Europe,” said Ghermandi. “This is a very important step for my racing career and so we are working flat out to get ready from the start.
“It will be an exciting new adventure that will put me in a position to face the best TCR competitors in Europe, although our priority will be to fight for the Diamond Trophy.”
