Liqui Moly Team Engstler has confirmed that it will run three Honda Civic Type-R TCR cars for Szymon Ładniak, Martin Andersen and Roland Hertner in the 2022 ADAC TCR Germany series.
The team, which won all three titles in the 2021 season with Hyundai machinery, is embarking on a new challenge this year, with defending champion Luca Engstler having also parted the team as he becomes an Audi Sport driver in 2022.
For Andersen, this year will be his second season in the German TCR series, having first raced a TCR Car in TCR Denmark in 2020, when he was second overall.
The Dane was again second overall in his first year in TCR Germany, when he claimed one race win at the Nürburgring finale.
“I am really looking forward to starting my second season with Engstler Motorsport,” said Andersen. “We had a really great season last year and I learned so much from all the guys who work on the car and the management behind it.
“Now I can’t wait to start with our new car and our Honda brand. I’m sure we will have a good performance from the first race.”
18-year-old Polish racer Ładniak is embarking on his third season in TCR Germany, and he is already seeking a title challenge. His best ranking to-date was 13th overall in 2021.
“First of all, I would like to express my gratitude for the team’s trust in me,” said Ładniak. “It’s a great opportunity for me.
“I’m really looking forward to Engstler Motorsport. They expect maximum performance from me and I expect the same from them. I love this way of working together because this way of working is a good way to great success.
“With such a good team, the goal can only be one thing – the title. I know the Honda from my last two races and I know this car is very fast and I will be able to fight for podiums.
“It’s good that the races can be seen via live stream, so I can share the races in Poland, which pleases my fans and is important for my sponsors.”
Hertner, at 62, is the veteran of the team. The German is taking on his second season in TCR Germany, although he also raced TCR machinery for the team in TCR Asia in 2019.
“I’m looking forward to the new season with the Honda Civic TCR,” said 2021 Trophy champion Hertner. “Of course I will try to repeat my success in the trophy ranking.
“It’s also really fun with the guys from Engstler and they’ll quickly get the Honda under control.”
The team’s Sports and Marketing Director Kurt Treml added: “We are looking forward to the new challenge and that our partners will continue to support us.
“We know how difficult the task ahead is, but we also have a well-established team that makes it really fun to take on such a challenge.
“The first test drives with the Hankook tires are planned for the beginning of March, after the first few days we will see where we are.”
