ROJA Motorsport will field three Hyundai i30 N TCR cars in this year’s ADAC TCR Germany series, after extending its cooperation with Engstler Motorsport.
The team from Potsdam made it’s début in the German TCR series in 2021, fielding a single Hyundai for team boss Robin Jahr.
Jahr, 30, contested the full season, securing a best finish of fifth on three occasions, at the Sachsenring, Hockenheimring and Nürburgring, all in the second half of the year, on his way to eighth overall in the drivers’ standings.
The team will now expand to running three cars in TCR Germany, together with a further two Hyundai i20s in the resurrected Deutsche Tourenwagen Challenge (DTC), which will act as a stepping stone to series such as TCR Germany.
The outfit’s cooperation with Engstler Motorsport will also be extended. Engstler Motorsport has switched from running Hyundais for the past four years to Honda machinery for 2022, but will still work with teams running its former cars.
“I am happy and proud to start the new season with such a strong and experienced partner,” said team founder Jahr. “Of course, as ROJA Motorsport, we continue to rely on the Hyundai brand and are significantly expanding the cooperation with Engstler Motorsport that started last year.
“I think that we will achieve a lot together and that the cooperation will bring a breath of fresh air in many respects.
“Last year, Engstler Motorsport was able to win all possible titles in ADAC TCR Germany with the Hyundai brand. ROJA Motorsport wants to continue this success seamlessly.”
Franz Engstler, team owner of Engstler Motorsport, is pleased to extend the cooperation for 2022.
“In 2022 Engstler Motorsport will face new challenges with the Honda brand,” said Engstler. “Because of this, we are very happy that we were able to expand the cooperation with ROJA Motorsport that started in 2021.
“With ROJA Motorsport we have found a partner who will successfully continue the touring car operations with the Hyundai brand.
“Team Manager Andreas Klinge will contribute his many years of experience and stand for a promising project.
“We are happy that through this cooperation the assignments in TCR Germany and DTC for 2022 are secured.
“I can look back on an extremely successful collaboration with Hyundai and look forward to continuing this on a professional level.”
Andreas Klinge, Team Manager of ROJA Motorsport, added:
“With Hyundai we have a strong brand to be successful in the 2022 season. We want to be up there with Hyundai again this year and can hardly wait for the start of the season in Oschersleben in April.
“There is still a lot to do before the start of the season, but everyone in the team is already in the starting blocks and looking forward to the challenge.”
